Woodland Hills Academy is a school that believes in being GREAT in all facets of education including music.  Students at the Academy have the opportunity to learn to play a variety of Wind, String, and Percussion instruments within the instrumental music program.  Beginning Band, Beginning Orchestra, Intermediate Band, Intermediate Orchestra, 7/8 Band, and 7/8 Orchestra are all of the many instrumental ensembles that are under the direction of Mr. Shaw.

Mr. Shaw, a graduate of Kittanning High School (now Armstrong High School), received his Bachelors of Music Education degree from Grove City College with a concentration in conducting and trombone performance.  Once Mr. Shaw received his Bachelors degree, he was employed as the Director of Bands at Punxsutawney Area High School.  Mr. Shaw later accepted a position at Woodland Hills School District and has taught a variety of different grade levels and musical concentrations at Dickson Elementary, Edgewood Elementary, Fairless Elementary, and the Rankin Promise Program.  Mr. Shaw later received his Masters in Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  As stated above, Mr. Shaw is now currently teaching all instrumental music, including band and orchestra, at the Woodland Hills Academy.  Mr. Shaw also serves as the Assistant Director of the Woodland Hills High School Marching Band and Images Ensemble.
