On behalf of the entire Fairless Elementary School community, greetings and welcome to the 2009-2010 school year.
Approximately 300 children attend our highly diverse, safe, caring, and academically challenging community school. All of our teachers and staff members work together with our parents and community as "A Team Committed To Excellence" to make the educational experience as positive and dynamic as possible for each child. The 2008 - 2009 Reading and Mathematics PSSA data reflects our professional efforts. Twenty-one of the 21 performance, participation, and attendance targets were met by our school. As a result, Fairless made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress). More specifically, as Dr. Zahorchak, PA Secretary of Education stated during the Opening Day Program for the Woodland Hills School District staff on August 21, 2009, "...at Fairless...the gains in reading and mathematics are remarkable".
Students enrolled in kindergarten through grades six attend Fairless Elementary School. The mission of our school "...is dedicated to educating students in a standards driven, child centered, nurturing learning environment where high expectations are maintained for each learner...". Teachers use the very best instructional practices in order to service the individualized learning needs of our students. Our support staff contribute to that process. Various guidance services provided within our school function to support unique student needs. The variety of student incentive programs help to celebrate student success as well as to encourage our learners to excel academically and behaviorally as well as to make positive educational choices. Our unique child-oriented activities make learning fun at school.
We encourage parents to be active participants in their child's education, especially by participating in the variety of family oriented events at Fairless. Our school calendar provides parents with the dates of these wonderful opportunities. The Resource Center at our school also provides parents with many different supports that will assist them in their daily lives. We will be working very hard to servicing some of your family needs right here at school!
