Woodland Hills School District Educators Recognized at Champions of Change Celebration

The Woodland Hills School District is pleased to announce that two district teachers and one district administrator have been named as “Champions of Change” by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Center for Creativity and its partner, Common Sense Media.  Mrs. Christyn Coles, Mr. Kevin McGuire and Ms. Licia Lentz received the award that acknowledges those educators and leaders who use creative approaches to enhance learning and who serve as an example of what should occur in every classroom, for every student.  Champions of Change awardees embrace technology and seek new and effective ways to engage children in the learning process.

WQED Remake Learning: Sisters eSTEAM

An afterschool program in Woodland Hills and in pop-up sites around Allegheny County teaches young women such cool things as the science in cosmetics and Newton's Laws of Motion through Dance. Designed primarily for African American young women in 7th and 8th grade, it's also aimed at kids in poverty, and offers a taste and introduction to the possibilities of pursuing a STEAM career in the future.
