Woodland Hills Finishes First and Third in Fairchild Challenge #6 at Phipps

The final project in the Fairchild Challenge for Middle School Students at Phipps asked them to create a publicity campaign to inform people about the benefits of incorporating plants in their lives.  Sixth Grade students from the Academy and Shaffer finished first and Seventh and Eighth Grade students from the Junior High and Academy finished third in the competition!

Stay Drug Free

 

At an assembly on May 7th and 9th, a group of 7th & 8th grade students performed our rendition of an Anti-Drug Skit, entitled “Turnaround”. Leading up to the skit, several homerooms participated in a Door Decorating Contest. The winners of the contest, one for each grade level, were presented with Anti-Drug T-Shirts and will have a pizza party. Also, all students were presented with a red, white and blue “I Elect To Be Drug Free” silicone bracelet. Our message:: DON’T DO DRUGS!

'Young Frankenstein' Pulls Seven Kelly Nominations

The WHHS production of 'Young Frankenstein' received seven nominations for the 23rd annual Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater.  Another nomination for 'best musical' highlights the list along with supporting actress and actor honors for Marika Countouris and Justin McCord.

Junior High Students Win i5 STEM Video Contest

Congratulations to Thomas Osterle, Jacquan Yancy, Sheldon Johnson, Donovan Moore, and Jacob Kefalos for creating the video, The King's Pollution, that won the award for best use of technology in the Carnegie Science Center's i5 STEM Digital Video Competition.
