Welcome to Ms. Higgins' Spanish Classes
¡Bienvenidos a las clases de Señorita. Higgins!
¡Bienvenidos! Welcome to our Spanish class, my name is Kiara Higgins or you may call me Señorita Higgins. I am a Pittsburgh native; I grew up and graduated from Penn Hills in 2003. I received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in 2007 from the University of Pittsburgh; where I majored in Hispanic Languages and Literatures, in addition to a concentration in Western European Studies and a minor in Portuguese.
After graduating from Pitt, I began my teaching career in the Pittsburgh area and later, graduated with a Master’s degree in Foreign Language Education K-12 from Duquesne University. This past summer I completed my second Master’s degree in Educational Administration and Supervision with Certification in Curriculum & Instruction; in order to pursue my professional goals in school administration.
I am very excited to share my passion for the Spanish language with you again, this year. As we work through this year together, our class will study basic vocabulary and grammar infused with Hispanic culture, art, music, history and an overview of the many Spanish-speaking countries.
Please keep in mind that in order to learn a language, you need to listen, study and practice your vocabulary. Please come prepared to class; I would like to see you taking notes during class and also creating your own dictionary with the new words and expressions that you learn.
Please use the side tabs to find other information about our class and see what your child is learning!
Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you have with your child’s progress throughout the year. I look forward to working with all of you!
Atentamente,
Señorita Higgins
