Congratulations to our 6th grade students who participated in the Middle School Fairchild Challenge at Phipps. The competition included schools from all around the Pittsburgh area. Over 1,600 students in grades six-eight competed in the Challenge this year. They completed six different environmental challenges over the course of the 2013-2014 school year.   At the Fairchild Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 28th, sixth grade students from Shaffer  learned that they won first place in the Fairchild Challenge!  They earned $500 to promote environmental education in their schools.    We are very proud of their dedication to these challenges and their efforts to help the environment!
