Activity: Jump Rope
- Rope jumping contributes to the development of coordination, rhythm, timing, agility, aerobic endurance and leg strength.
Skill: Basic skipping form:
- Stand tall
- Knees and feet together
- Hold rope behind the heels
- Keep elbows close to sides
- Turn rope with small circular wrist movements.
Procedure: Divide class into three or four groups of 6 jumpers each. Jumpers take turns in groups jumping rope for 30 seconds each. Total the number of jumps for each group.

Long Rope Jumping
Procedure: Class is divided into 5 equal groups of five or six players. Each group’s members are numbered. Numbered players are given turns turning the rope and as jumpers. Students are introduced to a number of jump rope rhymes and then each student is given an opportunity to practice these rhymes.
