Reading is Fun!

In Rm. 107, we have a 90 minute reading block. During this 90 minutes, we work on rhyming, phonemic awareness, phonics, high frequency words, comprehension, and vocabulary.

For the Month of March our theme is "In the Neighborhood".

Phonemic Awareness
Students should be able to identify the medial sound in words. For example, "CAT". The middle sound is /a/.
We are also working on blending words. For example, "CAT" /c/ /a/ /t/.

We are working on the short vowel sound /e/ e. Example, /e/skimo, /e/lephant, /e/ggs.

Reading Comprehension
Summarize the story
Differentiate Reality vs. Fantasy
Beginning, middle, ending

Students should also identify the setting and characters after reading each story.
