The first grade team is trying something new this year!

From 8:15-8:45 each morning first graders are switching rooms for some extra math.  I get to work with a group each morning.  The purpose is to reinforce the skills that are being taught during math class and to either offer extra support or provided a greater challenge for students. Groups are determined at the begining of each new unit and will change many times over the course of the year.  Ask your child about the fun and exciting things they get to do in their small groups!

  • Important Math Skills

Last year your children built a strong foundation in number sense.  They were introduced to different ways of representing numbers and started to add and subtract.  If I could tell you the most important math skill for them to master this year I would say adding and subtracting (No borrowing yet).  Target always has flash cards in their dollar bins or you can print them from my site.  Have fun challenging your child with their facts!

  • Resources for you

Throughout the year I will place videos, games, and other resources that can help your student at home.  Some of the games are games that we have played during interventions, others are simply good resources that students can use to review.  Please be aware that many of the videos link to youtube and may include advertisements.
