Rifle Team Finishes Strong

On Wednesday, February 20th, Woodland Hills rifle team traveled to Washington County for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic State Championship competition. The competition utilizes two of the college-style A-50 targets in a 20 minute time limit. The Wolverines scored a 967 out of a possible 1000, and took 4th place overall out of 12 qualifying schools across the state. Junior Laura Valenti was named to the state all-tournament team for her excellent performance.

On Friday, February 22nd, Woodland Hills hosted the annual WPIAL senior invitational tournament. This year, 50 senior shooters competed. Wolverine Quinn Rouse shot a 200-17x and participated in a tie-breaking round, which we won, earning him 7th place overall. Captain Brendan Boyle shot a 200-18x and tied five other competitors. He handily bested the competition by shooting a 100-8c on an A-36 target, earning him 2nd place overall. Also, Kayla Costello and Connor Rudge shot scores of 200 and captain Erin Schwoegl, Zane Vorhes, Cory Rutter, and Adam Miller shot perfect targets in the competition.
