Two of the outstanding educators at WHJSHS have been recognized by the National State Teachers of the Year - Pennsylvania Chapter for the Apple Award: Nathan Johnson and John Danchisko. This award is presented to educators in our state for exceptional efforts in teaching, coaching, and other efforts that support educational excellence. lt recognizes members of the educational community who make a positive difference in the lives of students, school districts, and community.
Mr. Johnson and Mr. Danchisko were nominated for this award by Cindy Ollendyke, Immediate Past President of NSTOY-PA, who says:
"Nathan Johnson and John Danchisko, 11th grade English teachers at Woodland Hills High School, have teamed up to integrate Google Classroom in their school. They work hard to engage students and hold them accountable for their work. Both ofthem are energetic and enthusiastic about sharing this time-saving/organizational tool with other teachers in and out of their district so that they too may bring this tool to their students. Nathan and John do a great job of showing how a tool such as Google Classroom can positively impact student learning! They introduced useful techniques to teachers from western Pennsylvania at an Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teachers and Teaching convening in April 2017. These teacher leaders are to be commended for taking the initiative to learn and teach this best practice to other teachers so many students may benefit."
Congraulations Mr. Johnson and Mr. Danchisko!
